Swim coach Miranda Tomenson will be holding a 2-hour Advanced Swim Clinic from 12-2pm

The goal of this clinic will be to two-fold. It is meant to introduce new technical angles and ways of training to swimmers who have plateaued in recent months or even years. This clinic will feature a discussion by Coach Miranda Tomenson on the nature of swimming, its unique technical challenges and how athletes can expect to overcome those challenges. Miranda will also introduce the concept of critical swim speed (CSS) and how to use this concept in training.

Participants will then jump in the pool for a two part session:

1) A technique focused swim with a specific emphasis on how to identify and address weaknesses in the stroke

2) A timed swim to determine your own CSS and a short swim set based on this concept

Recommended for those that can swim a personal best of 1:50 per 100m or faster. Swimmers at this clinic are expected to have a strong grasp of basic body positioning in the water and proper stroke mechanics.

What they will learn:

This clinic will serve as a chance to iron out any bad habits that may have formed over years of swimming with the poor stroke technique. Participants can expect to go over the finer points of body position, the catch and pull motion of the freestyle stroke and how to generate more power out of their freestyle kick. Additionally, participants will learn how to train more effectively using their CSS.

Why they should attend:

As training for the spring starts to gear up, this a great chance to add some new skills and techniques to your toolbox that will allow you to start the season strong and train with a purpose. It is also an excellent opportunity to get a detailed analysis of the specifics of your stroke and things that you as an individual can do to improve. Moreover, it is a chance to ensure that you are training properly and at the correct speed.

Needed: appropriate swim wear, goggles and preferably a swim cap and a water bottle, warm clothes for deck.

Limit of 18 people.
