Most of us have received a variety of emails from MultiSport Canada/ Subaru/ TRIATHLON ONTARIO (TO), formerly OAT, on changes to the former one-day license and insurance fee structures -  charged on top of race fees. All this communication seems to have created more confusion than anything.

What's important for Members is that - ALL TO membership, license and insurance fee portions are covered in the TO portion of the TTC club Membership.   As a current TTC member you don’t have to worry about the additional fees.

Another great reason to -Renew your TTC membership today!

After reviewing some warm-up techniques, Kevin got attendees moving Sat am with a 'Cruise Tempo' run that had everyone's heart rate up.

What a difference it is running with a coach tracking each of your splits and working on your technique, he knows when you're slacking off and how to help you run more efficiently.

Running in the new Monarch Park indoor track is a real treat on a chilly winter morning and everyone is excited about putting into place our new customized training plans from Kevin.

    Next week - Interval Training.

    January 22nd

Just another Tuesday morning swim at Regent park...wait, is that Simon Whitfield?!

    TTC members looking good!

A few weeks back, Twitter was ablaze as Simon Whitfield mentioned he would be in Toronto for a few days and was looking for a club to swim with, so of course there were immediate offers from multiple clubs from throughout the city vying for the chance to swim with such a great Canadian triathlete.

Our members and Board did a stand up job bombarding him with reasons to join us, which made for an entertaining Twitter exchange (see screenshots below), and he mentioned he would try to make it out. What suspense! Although he was unable to make it the following morning, but being such a stand up guy, Simon messaged one of our Board members that he would try to join us the next time he was in the city.

At this mornings swim, Mike Carling greeted Simon, who asked if he could swim with us. Not recognizing him right away, Mike remarked that he should speak to Annette first to see if there were still additional spots open for registration. Luckily, Mike quickly realized it was Simon and invited him to join us for the morning! (We'll excuse you for that Mike, it was 6:30am after all!)

Our Annual General Meeting was a great event!

Our Past Presidents! Andy Hannaford, Lesley Taylor, Ted Rosen, Judy Quillin and Ben Lawson

Our annual AGM was a successful evening, with a nice balance of 'taking care of business' to approve the Annual Report and electing of new board, and the fun social component of appetizers and awards.

Guest speaker Steve Fleck gave a great talk on the history of triathlons in Ontario, our current role in it, and where it may be headed in the future.

We heard from outgoing President Ted Rosen, Nigel Grey from NRG PT, and announced awards for Member of the Year, Community Awards, and 'Best Photo' contest. A plaque was presented by the current board to the 5 past Presidents (seen above) as a way to commemorate the young history of our club.

    Congrats to those who won:

    • Member of the Year - Caroline Irvine
    • Community Award - Annette Carling for assistance with the club swim programs
    • Community Award - Barbara Goss for ongoing promotion of club through spirit and attendance at clinics and races
    • Community Award - John Hughes for coordinating the winter rides
    • Community Award - Michael Liberzon for coordinating the Lake Wilcox rides
    • Best Photo Contest - Linda-Kay Richards

Big thanks to our sponsors Absolute Endurance, EnduroSport, H.E.A.L and NRG PT for providing raffle and award prizes and Whistler's for hosting us for a fantastic evening!
