I started on the path of triathlon in the fall of 2015 by signing up for TTF Sprint. I bought a hybrid bike not knowing if I’d like it …. 8+ years later I’m still at it!!! I joined the club in spring 2016, and have been so grateful for this fabulous community of amazing athletes. I found a coach that I love to hate, and of course fantastic friends!

I love cheering on everyone as they pass me on the course!

Never be afraid of finishing last!!!  I am grateful for this opportunity to lead the club with this amazing board.

In the summer of 2019, I participated in my first triathlon. Despite a bike that was about to fall apart, and despite being so clueless about what I was doing that I tried to fix my breaks in T2 I had so much fun, I signed up for more.

In the summer of 2022, I raced my first half Ironman distance races and joined the TTC to get involved with the great people I had met at and around various events.

Now, I’m thrilled to be able to give back to the community as a member of the TTC board, while training for IM Lake Placid (and an assortment of other events… because I'm a sucker for signing up!)

Geoffrey is a longtime Toronto resident, and a recent triathlete, doing his first triathlon in 2019. Swam competitively in high school. Took a break from sports for many years (Work! Kids! Life!), then started getting back into it @ 2015. Started running as an adult for health and wellness, restarted swimming because he wanted upper body balance, then got into biking because of a friend, and, well, maybe he'll do a triathlon. Tada! Now enjoying all three for the joy, self-development, community, and adventure they provide. He is not allowed to do triathlons longer than Olympic distance, at least until the kids are out of the house.

Geoff works as a Professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and Department of Psychology. He is also the Academic Director of the Rotman Executive Programs on Negotiations and Leading Change, and one of three for the Directors Education Program. He has been a theatre dad, is still a soccer dad (and for two years served as a house-league coach), and now a university dad. Geoff has previously served on boards, most recently one on research ethics and another on the MBA Curriculum (10+ members). From 2019-2022, he served as the second board’s chair. He's sitting on this board because he wants to support his triathlon community.

communications@torontotriathlonclub.org

I began my triathlon journey in 2017, driven by curiosity. Despite minimal preparation and tough weather, I completed my first Sprint triathlon, panicking in the water and walking the run. Determined to change this memory, I returned the following season.

Triathlons have since become a path of self-discovery and personal growth, pushing my limits from struggling in my first race to conquering longer distances. This journey has strengthened me physically and mentally, teaching resilience, discipline, and perseverance. As a woman of color and recently a mother, I’m motivated to promote diversity, the value movement has added to my overall well-being and show that anything is possible if you believe.

With nearly 15 years in the public sector, my career has evolved from health promotion to international development in the not-for-profit space. In all aspects of my personal and professional life, I carry community at the center. My dream, particularly for triathlons, is reducing barriers to participation, sprinkling more colour and more diversity to start lines.

Rediscovering my love for swimming in university brought me to triathlon and the first time I completed a sprint distance  (at the inaugural Toronto Triathlon Festival in 2012), I was hooked. I joined the club that year and began seeing bodies of all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities competing alongside me and it reinforced the notion that ALL bodies belong in sport.

Triathlon and long distance open water swimming give me strength, focus determination, and an entire community of amazing people who do epic things, conquer fears, and challenge what's possible.

Outside of triathlon, I work in mental health and addictions programming for justice-involved persons, enjoy cooking, kayaking, and "wild" swimming in less popular places. I have two awesome teenaged nephews, love to love on everyone's pets, and generally aim to be a good human.

I am super excited about being the Training Director for the club. I have been participating in Tri's since 2009, I recently completed Ironman Lake Placid for the Ironman Foundation and love new challenges and adventures.

One of the best parts of this sport is welcoming and assisting newcomers as it is a very exciting and fulfilling no matter where you decide to take it.

I am NCCP trained and have been a TTC group leader since 2022 and LOVE it!! Looking forward to connecting with members and seeing everyone out at the different training opportunities and events.

Kim has been involved with the TTC since 2018. She was President over two-years in 2022 & 2023 and previously Secretary for the club. Kim had been an avid runner for many years, but was facing more frequent injuries and started looking for new ways to continue in endurance sports. To stay healthy a friend suggested biking and she bought her first road bike. That spring on a trip to Florida in 2018 she got on the bike for the first time and back in an actual lane pool for the first time in 30 years. At the end of that trip she happened upon an Olympic distance race that was happening nearby and watched from the sidelines getting engaged in the energy and enthusiasm of the event.

As soon as she returned to Toronto she searched for a local triathlon club and happened upon the Toronto Triathlon Club Website. She signed up for swimming, east end cycling, track and a newbie camp within that first week. She was hooked and loved surrounding herself with like-minded people that encouraged each other regardless of skill level, race experience or speed. At the end of year 1 with 3 sprint distance races under her belt, she set the audacious goal of a spring Olympic distance race, an early summer 70.3 race and a late summer Ironman. In August of 2019 that dream became a reality as she ran across the red carpet to become an Ironman in Mont Tremblant. Since then Kim has completed across various distances from sprint to Ironman again in California in 2022. Currently Kim is training for Ironman Ottawa in 2025.

Staff

exec-director@torontotriathlonclub.org

I have been coaching athletes towards their running and triathlon goals since 2006.  I work with athletes of all abilities – from those just learning to run to ultra endurance competitors. I believe that open communication between coach and athlete is crucial. I can help you to reach your goals in a healthy and well-reasoned manner – however, your open and ongoing communication with me is essential to this process. I continue to learn and develop as a coach and as an athlete in order to better understand and address your needs. I create individualized plans based on each athlete and their personal goals. An effective plan will fit into your life (not overrun it), so that it will become part of your everyday lifestyle – which in turn, will allow you to stay motivated and continue to grow and have fun with your training and racing activities.

With over 15 years of dedicated service in the non-profit sector, I bring a wealth of experience and a passion for community engagement to the Toronto Triathlon Club.  Originally hailing from Halifax, I combine a strong commitment to health and wellness with an increasing knowledge of the triathlon world.

Driven by a lifelong passion for promoting healthy lifestyles, I took on my first triathlon in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the sport and the community.

When my job was eliminated during Covid I started volunteering with the club and was thrilled to join the paid staff in the Spring of 2021. In my role with the Club, I am excited to contribute to a supportive and dynamic environment where athletes of all levels can thrive.

 Coach Sam

Coach Teresa

Highly experienced “multisport” athlete, official and coach with a passion to help masters athletes enjoy the sports of triathlon and swimming in a safe manner. Keenly interested in the improvement of technique in each of the individual sports. Readily share my knowledge and learnings, especially open water techniques.  Always taking on new initiatives to learn and further my own coaching knowledge and skills so that I can provide the best experiences for our athletes.

Was a former Professional Engineer / IT Project Manager who worked for many years in a demanding business environment while raising a family and still finding ways to do my own training for long course events. I totally understand athletes who experience similar challenges and offer ways to help manage a "balanced" lifestyle.

I joined the Toronto Triathlon Club in the fall of 2021 coaching primarily in West Toronto e.g. swim programs at Western Tech (and other pools). Also, I initiated the "New to Triathlon" online series of seminars which provided a foundation for athletes new to the sport. I have also coached several in-person cycling and running sessions primarily aimed at "new to triathlon" athletes - helping to develop the confidence and skills needed to achieve your goals as a triathlete!

 Coach Tara

As the owner and founder of HEAL™ (HEALTHY EATING ACTIVE LIVING™), Tara Postnikoff has been coaching people through healthy eating and active living since 2006. As a sports nutritionist, triathlon coach and personal trainer, Tara is passionate about helping athletes eat better and perform better and focuses on a balanced approach to eating, training and life in general. As a Triathlete, Tara over the past 15 years, has competed in all distances from Try-a-tri to Ironman.
