Are you new to triathlon or swimming and don't know how to get your swim training started? Do you struggle with the swim component of the triathlon? If so, this 3 part clinic is for you!
Dates: October 21, November 4, November 18
Description: Over the course of the three 1.25hr sessions, participants will be exposed to stroke technique tips, including proper body position and propulsion and how to continue to build fitness through progressive training. These clinics will be led by Miranda Tomenson.
Why do it?: This clinic is a great opportunity for beginner triathletes or those who have been struggling to improve their swim. Each of the three sessions will build on the previous one and will have a focus on stroke technique and training, specific for triathletes.
Details: The first session will focus primarily on body position, with about 15 minutes at the start dedicated to dryland training for mobility and stability for swimmers and an analysis on proper body position and how to achieve it. The in water session will start with a swim video and analysis of every swimmer. The remainder of the session will be in the water, with a variety of drills intended to improve comfort and buoyancy in the water.
The second session will build on the first session. The first part of the session will be a recap of the first session, including a mix of dryland and in water drills important for buoyancy. We will resume where we left off and add a few new drills/tips to work on body position and buoyancy. The remaining time will introduce how to get propulsion from the arms and the legs.
The third session will build on the second session. The first 20 minutes will be spent re-filming and watching the videos to see progress. The remaining time will focus on recap from and building on the previous two sessions.
***Swimmers are required to practice drills learned in each session a minimum of 3 times on their own between sessions, so to get the most out of the clinic.
A minimum of 3 participants are needed in order for this program to run. Spots are limited to 6 and each participant will receive a video of their stroke at the beginning and end of the 3 part clinic.
Requirements: Bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, ability to complete at least 100m of swimming without stopping (even if it isn’t freestyle)
Coach: Miranda Tomenson
Please plan on arriving early to change.
